TWISTED CHARM - interview by... me (March 2007)

Your concert in Bucharest is in between two London concerts. Do you think it will… fit well?
It will fit if Bucharest likes to get down!

Is UK still the home of punk?
Well I’m not sure it ever was. Didn’t the Sex Pistols rip off US bands like the Stooges, Velvet Underground and The New York Dolls???

What do you prefer: an underground club or an open air festival? Whatever your choice: Why?
We still haven’t played an open air festival. We enjoy the intimacy of underground clubs.

Have you ever had boring lives? If yes, when? What did it look like?
And what does a really boring concert looks like for you?
We all love our lives. I love writing songs and we love playing music and feel lucky to have a record deal. Even when I was working I enjoyed life. It’s where you are in your mind that makes you happy. A boring concert for us would be a bored crowd.

What would be the style you play? Punk? Electro? Indie? All of them?
Accapella

The Cure or The Clash?
The Cure.

What do you know about Romania… in general? I imagine musically we’re quite unknown.
Here comes the shameful English ignorance. Do you make good wine or something? Your football team is very good.

What would be the ideal open act to your concerts? Do you know anything about the open act for the Romanian concert?
Maybe a short film by a director that we like. You will have to tell us about the opening act for the Romanian concerts when we arrive.

What/ Who do you consider to be your roots… or, how should I put it, your “musical” parents?
We enjoy the lyrical cynicism of Mark E Smith and the musical genious of The Stranglers. The Stranglers combine edgy rhythms with subtle melodies like nobody else.

What are your plans? Near or far… future plans?
To find a title for our debut album. We must have gone through 100 titles now. Any ideas???
